Shelter From The Storm – Isaiah 32:2

Today’s scripture

Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm,
like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

Isaiah 32:2

Our Storms

This is September 15, 2018 and we have survived another hurricane in the Carolinas. In my scheduled reading, started over 18 months ago, Isaiah 32 and 33 were the scriptures for today.

Isaiah was a prophet with many words of bad news for God’s people. Among those discouraging words of doom that man’s free will has brought about, there are great encouragements. Although Isaiah was a prophet and recipient of God’s omniscience, he had no idea how his words could provide comfort 2,700 years later.

Did God know that yesterday there would be another “F” (remember Fran and Floyd?) storm named Florence ravaging the coast of NC? Yes, He did.

Did God also know that I would be reading the scriptures in Isaiah 32 today? Yes, He knew this when the words were written and on January 1, 2017 when I began a three-year journey through His Word.

God’s Cleanup

It is quite certain that you can read the words of Isaiah 32 and apply them to the natural storms, happening occasionally, and the everyday “storms of life.” Today’s storm may involve something as “normal” as the stresses of work or you may be experiencing the trials of an extended illness. These next few days may revolve around the seemingly rare mountaintop experiences when you feel free to praise God because everything is working together for beautiful circumstances and results.

These next few days may involve cleanup of the messes made in yesterday’s storm. Yes, that will be the focus of my day between the occasional rain and gusts as the strength of the storm moves away from NC. Cleanup of messes? Yes, our bad decisions can create messy lives. God’s watchcare over us can carry us through those many messes and the cleanup process that is needed, as long as we will believe in and accept Him.

We have never strayed so far that God is no longer there for us. Regardless of the results of your latest storm, you can hand it over to God and be sure that He will be with you to the end.
